Underrepresented Bodies


Dear Blog Readers,
I want to take a moment to acknowledge the amazing work being done by our community. Thank you for your continued support and emails. If you are unsure about whether or not you want to send me something, SEND IT!! All you have to do is send it to me. I will read it over and discuss with you how we can make it meet the guidelines. That can be the hard part, and it is why I am here.

This is a call for submissions for pieces by underrepresented bodies in Eating Disorders Narratives. Do you fit? Do you see yourself represented? Hear yourself in the stories? We can add your voice and support you through the process.

Take good care of yourself, and remember to nourish your body, mind, and spirit.

The Rope by L.C.


Dear Blog Readers,
I apologize about the pause in the posts. To be a role model for recovery, means to take the time and energy that I need for self-care. I work in a high stress, very demanding profession with strict deadlines that are incredibly hard to meet. I have spent the last 3 weeks working and ending my days with mindfulness activities, self-compassionate self-talk, and meditation. I am starting to get back into the swing of my job while balancing my recovery goals.

This week our submission comes from L.C who talks about his recovery journey. Please continue to send in your work.

The Rope by L.C.
Reaching for something that isn’t there
Grasping at air hoping something will be there to take hold of
and finding nothing
You throw me a rope
For me it feels like vapours I cannot keep in my hand
and yet you throw it to me again
Again and again and again
The more you throw it the more it begins to take on form
I realize I need you
I realize I cannot do it alone
I allow the vapours to take shape
They become your hand
…. I don’t know if I want it … but I take it
And I hold it
And you squeeze and pull, firmly, tightly, and a warmth flows through me
I am not alone

Blog Pause


Dear Blog Readers, 

I want to send a quick message to tell you I haven’t forgotten this space, or the wonderful submissions I have received. Your moderator is a teacher and back-to-school has interfered with my groove.
